Situated in Collingwood, Golden Bay, New Zealand, The Lewis House looks out to Collingwood beach at the mouth of the Aorere River. It is just a couple of minutes walking to all Collingwood amenities, with easy road access to all the attractions of Golden Bay.
Starting in 2005 we spent two years restoring this one hundred year old house. The Lewis family history performs a strong role in the history of Collingwood and Golden Bay. Their former home is extremely unusual for being two storey villa style, right on the beach. This is guest accommodation of the highest standard.
The house has three king or queen rooms (twin on request) with one ensuite and one shared bathroom. There is a discreet garden suite at the rear with king bed and ensuite bathroom. While maintaining its old world style, we have provided all the amenities today's traveler could require.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and butcher's block. There is also a laundry.
Guests share the downstairs areas, kitchen, dining and living rooms. There is a CD and radio in the living room, while the TV and video are in a separate lounge. We live next door, so guests are able to enjoy the house to themselves.
